Kate's Korner is actually two shops in one. Bert's Bakery and Kate's share the same building. Many are pleased that they can purchase a cake, gift and a card all in one stop.

Jane Dyer has been a seamstress all her life, and has always wanted to open a store. In 1989, after her youngest two finally reached junior high, Jane had a booth at the Portage Antique & Craft barn on Centre Street. In 1992, when Jane's daughter purchased Bert's Bakery, Jane placed her crafts in the front room and started purchasing crafts from others.
1998 was the year of the big expansion! Jane and her husband has an addition put on the back of the building and placed her daughter's work area there. Then they opened up the main room and expanded the crafts.
